Hi friends!

252 Guadalupe Street - Natural Beauty is "in" ATX...and We're Here For it!

A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to spend a late Friday afternoon with one of my co-workers, Heather Hamel. I’ve always loved her style but more so, I enjoy her zest for life. To give you any idea of what I mean, when we were walking around downtown taking pictures for this post, she insisted on turning the camera around on me because she loved what I was wearing. Those who know me know how awkward I am when posing by myself but her energy, positivity & pure joy got me to finally say…”okkkkkkk.” Granted, I will probably never post those photos because hello, I’m awkward, but it’s not about that, it’s how Heather made me walk away from our talk with a big smile on my face and grateful that people like her exist.

So today, I’m excited to share her style inspiration, why she loves dressing for the Austin climate, and why character is #1, in hopes that you’ll also walk away with a smile just like I did…

“I would say my style would definitely be more on the boho side, or the comfy effortless look. My fashion has definitely evolved, and as I’ve gotten older I definitely have a lot more functional pieces. I think I’m also drawn to pieces that are going to last me awhile versus just going for what’s trendy. For me it’s really wearing what makes me feel confident in my day-to-day and not trying to always keep up with everyone else’s style. For instance, I love my skinny sunglasses and rompers, I’m a huge fan of rompers in all shapes and sizes! I feel like they make you look fun and interesting without putting a lot of work into it.

As far as what I’m wearing today, this gray plaid jumper is really channeling 90ish vibes…basically connecting with my inner 90’s child right now. It’s fun seeing stuff like scrunchies or wearing t-shirts under dresses. I’m wearing this because it looks professional but also stylish at the same time.

[When I asked Heather what inspires her the most about living in Austin….]

I love Austin’s climate and don’t think I really know how to have “great style” in cold climates. This definitely stems from growing up in Florida where it’s also super warm and I know how to dress for that kind of weather. I do let myself go a little more casual here in Austin because people don’t get super done up all the time and it’s more socially acceptable to have a more casual look. As opposed to Florida where people do it up a bit more, especially South Florida where we would get all dolled up before leaving the house. So it’s super refreshing that here in Austin natural beauty is in and it comes down more to someone’s character versus what you’re wearing on the outside.”

Preach Heather, preach.
